INTERIOR and the collectors is pleased to present COLLECTION No. 3, a solo show by Gregor Hildebrandt, from September 13 to December 28 2013.
The artist occupies the entire apartment with a site specific installation and a set of 47 small size paintings.
Gregor Hildebrandt (born in 1974 and based in Berlin) is known to work with magnetic audio and video tapes. He sticks it to the canvas, revealing both their physical and their potential archival qualities, collective memory and underground culture. Through this black and scintillating material, he probes the unconscious visitor highlighting a story to multiple references, from music to movies and literature. His complex associations of images reify a personal pantheon with a minimal and conceptual approach.
Gregor Hildebrandt realized the site specific work In der wohnung liegt das glückde (2013); an installation made on the ceilings of the apartment with hundreds of pennies glued on each knot of wood. Impressed by the height of the premise, the artist was inspired by a German proverb about the luck and happiness of finding coins on the floor of one's home. He interpreted and embodied it into a work of art that took place above our heads instead of the floor. Following his position in the space and the ambient light, the viewer could gradually see some points of brightness of different intensity, like a starry night.

L'artiste occupe tout l'appartement avec une installation spécifique au site et un ensemble de 47 peintures de petit format.
Gregor Hildebrandt (né en 1974 et basé à Berlin) est connu pour travailler avec des bandes magnétiques audio et vidéo. Il les colle sur la toile, révélant à la fois leurs qualités physiques et leur potentiel d'archivage, la mémoire collective et la culture underground. A travers ce matériau noir et scintillant, il sonde l’inconsciant du visiteur en mettant en évidence une histoire aux références multiples, de la musique aux films et à la littérature. Ses associations complexes d'images réifient un panthéon personnel dans une approche minimale et conceptuelle.

das glückde (2013) ; une installation faite directement sur les plafonds de l’appartement avec des centaines de pièces de centimes collées sur chaque noeud du bois. Impressionné par la hauteur de l’appartement, l’artiste est parti d’un proverbe allemand à propos de la chance et du bonheur de trouver des pièces de monnaie sur le plancher de son intérieur. Il l’a interprété et incarné en une oeuvre d’art non plus au sol mais au dessus de nos têtes. Suivant son positionnement dans l’espace et la lumière ambiante, le visiteur voit peu à peu des points de brillance de différente intensité, comme une nuit étoilée.
